Unique Sessions

Boutique DJ Sessions with Live Percussion Across Suffolk, Norfolk & Essex

Forthcoming events…

NEW YEARS EVE – 90’s House Party

December 31, 2025 @ 20:00 - January 1, 2026 @ 01:00

About the sessions

Unique Sessions is a boutique DJ experience fronted by DJ JC Unique, often joined by guest DJs and live musicians. Based in Suffolk and performing across Norfolk and Essex, Unique Sessions specialises in small, high‑quality music events with a distinctive live feel.
Perfect for wine bars, pubs, coffee shops, private parties and intimate venues, these compact DJ sessions blend professional DJ mixing with live percussion and bongos. The setup uses drum hardware rather than a standard DJ booth, creating a more engaging, performance‑driven atmosphere. No venue furniture is required — everything needed for staging is supplied.
Our PA system is tuned for clean, deep, warm sound at sensible levels, ideal for venues with neighbours or noise‑sensitive environments. If a larger system is needed, this can be arranged. Lighting includes wash lighting, uplighting and subtle moonflower effects, providing an effective and stylish ambience without overwhelming smaller spaces.

Music First – Always

Unique Sessions is a boutique DJ experience fronted by DJ JC Unique, often joined by guest DJs and live musicians. Based in Suffolk and performing across Norfolk and Essex, Unique Sessions specialises in small, high‑quality music events with a distinctive live feel.
Unique Sessions is not a traditional open‑format mobile disco. Instead, the focus is on specialist music sessions built around quality, groove and atmosphere. Genres include:

House (Funky, Soulful, Garage, Disco)

Club Classics

Classic UKG
Trance and Rave Classics
Soul, Groove & Funk
Disco
Broken Beat (Bruk)
80’s & 90’s themed sessions (always popular)

Playlists can be tailored, but the vibe is always curated, musical and authentic. If you’re looking for cheese, chart pop or kids’ party music, we’re probably not the right fit — but if you want tasteful, uplifting, specialist music, you’re in the right place.

About JC Unique

DJ, producer and label boss of Unique 2 Rhythm records.

JC began his musical journey in the early 90s, building a home studio on a shoestring like so many aspiring producers of the era. From that setup he released a string of UK Garage tracks—often on white label through independent distributors—earning a measure of underground success. His studio soon became a creative hub for local DJs and producers, complete with a pair of Technics 1200s that sparked an unexpected turn in his career.
After learning the basics of mixing, JC was asked to step in as emergency cover for the resident DJ at Club Valentino in Colchester around 1995. The club’s in‑house record collection meant he could play without owning a crate of his own, and after a strong first night he was offered a residency that lasted six years. A second residency at Bar Extreme in Ipswich followed, a venue that challenged the traditional nightclub format at the time. His sets were broadly open‑format with a strong leaning toward House, Garage and Trance. But as commercial clubs increasingly demanded more “urban” styles, JC stepped back from DJing around 2002 but…

In 2013, advances in studio technology reignited his passion for production. With professional‑quality tools now available on a home PC, JC launched his digital label Unique 2 Rhythm, inspired by the success of a demo—Need It—championed by Grant Nelson. No longer reliant on indifferent A&R departments or opaque vinyl distribution deals, he could release music directly to platforms like Traxsource, iTunes and Beatport purely on merit.
With great music ready to play but nowhere suitable to play it, JC built a modest sound and lighting system and began presenting the kind of soulful, funky, Balearic‑leaning house that didn’t fit the corporate club circuit. Adding a set of bongos—originally a gift for his daughter—created a unique live‑feel twist that resonated instantly around his hometown of Woodbridge.

Regular appearances at wine bars, pubs, coffee shops and intimate private parties soon followed.

Unique Sessions quickly became a local phenomenon, putting Woodbridge on the entertainment map and drawing visitors from far beyond Suffolk. Celebrities would often drop in, knowing they could enjoy the atmosphere with complete privacy and no fuss. But in 2019, Covid brought everything to an abrupt halt. Venues were forced to rethink their operations, and maintaining the events and sound system became unviable. Unique Sessions went quiet—at least publicly.
By 2026, signs of renewed appetite for vibrant, personal DJ experiences began to emerge. With venues still under pressure, one thing had become clear: to bring people out, you have to offer more, not less. In a time when community and celebration matter more than ever, the moment feels right for Unique Sessions to return.
